An extraordinary
   mountain location...
...and spectacular scenery is only the beginning!
Cullowhee River Club is superbly located in Jackson County, N.C.: a place of lofty peaks, rushing water, and spectacular scenery. It is a place of forests: the U.S. National Forest Lands, the Nantahala National Forest, the Pisgah National Forest, and the Great Smoky Mountain National Park all help to preserve the indigenous hardwood trees and much more. The renowned Appalachian Trail leads past Lone Bald, an elevation of 5,800 feet.

It is a place of water: approximately 250 named rivers and creeks, many of which are home to trout, bass, and walleye. Waterfalls abound, more than 30, including Whitewater Falls which is the tallest east of the Mississippi. The Tuckasegee River runs 40 miles through Jackson County and is on the Western North Carolina Fly Fishing Trail.

It is a place of spectacular scenery: the Blue Ridge Parkway's final 40 miles terminates here. There are 185 named summits, ranging to more than 6,000 feet in elevation. The ecology of the area is one of the most diverse in the United States.

In contrast to the peaceful mountain setting, the vibrant towns of Cashiers and Waynesville are a 30 minute drive from Cullowhee River Club. Both offer unique shopping and dining experiences as well as essential services. Even closer is the smaller town of Sylva, which has the largest hospital in Jackson County: Duke LifePoint Healthcare, part of the famed Duke University Health System.

The storied city of Asheville, about an hour's drive away, has a unique local culture, legendary shopping and dining, and abounds in live music venues. Biltmore Estate, George Vanderbilt's Southern home, is a favored destination of visitors. The Grove Park Inn, still reveling in its elegance since 1913, has one of the top 20 resort spas in the U.S., according to Conde Nast Traveler. Asheville's Mission Hospital is included in “100 Great Hospitals in America” by Beckers Hospital Review.
